People-powered music discovery.
In 2012, the folks at turntable.fm sought to create a new kind of social radio app, one that relied on the tastes of friends instead of algorithms. Users would "pick" their favorite songs, and radio stations would be built from the hand-picked songs of their friends. The new service would be called Piki, and my team at Plausible Labs was brought on board to develop the iOS app from the ground up. I worked directly with Billy Chasen, the founder and CEO, to bring his vision to life from initial wireframes to product launch.
New users pick existing djs to follow based on their musical tastes.
The heart of the app! The player shuffles music picked by your friends. React to the current song, repick, explore!
Create radio stations based on genres and individual artists.
See how people are reacting to your songs in real-time.
Customize your Piki identity with a profile pic and header graphic. Easily find friends by linking your social media.
Be social, chat with other users.
